Protecting forests and peatlands is a core commitment in our Sustainable Agriculture Policy, applicable to all operations in the Agribusiness Group. We are strongly committed to the preservation of areas of High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS). We set targets on compliance with our policy of no deforestation and zero HCV loss. Where they exist, we aim to enhance natural features on site, for example, a water catchment area being conserved as a Miniature Conservation Forest area within a plantation in East Kalimantan.
Through HCV assessments, the Agribusiness Group has identified protected species in our concessions and surrounding areas. Our Agribusiness Group prohibits development on peat regardless of depth and complies with related regulations of the Government of Indonesia. Additionally, the Agribusiness Group maintains a minimum water table depth for our existing cultivated peatland and works closely with the Government, local authorities and peat experts to ensure compliance.
